British National Championships |
Ultimate Taekwondo have just returned from the British Championships held at the Manchester Velodrome with a huge medal haul - albeit many of them from the first day being the wrong color - DUE TO TERRIBLE SCORING, FAULTY EQUIPMENT and TERRIBLE REFEREEING/JUDGING. Complaints were rife following the first days competition from many Clubs and Coaches

Tanika Harrison - fantastic! 3 games - no real competition at all for her!
Beat Beth Worthington from BTS in the final
Lani Turner-Josephs - 2 games - both stopped in round 1!! Beat Emily Watson
from Scorpions in the final.
Asha Turner-Josephs - straight final - fantastic result - Katie Burke from
Hama withdrew in round 3.
Alex Myers - straight final - clear victory - cracking 2 headshsots - beat
Jordan Bignall from PUMA.
Dan Myers - REGAINED TITLE FROM LAST YEAR - 3 games - first 2 were 7-point
victories - the final against the player from Taekwondo Tigers was tougher!
Well done the above BRITISH CHAMPIONS.

Amber Merrils - fought well - lost final to a much more experienced player -
Stephanie Allen from Fusion.
Niall Gibson - won 1 game and lost final on golden kick to Bradley Patton of
BTS on golden kick - THE SCORING ON THIS RING WAS TERRIBLE ALL DAY - Niall
clearly won the match and even more clearly won the golden point - HE WAS
ROBBED BLIND.
Samantha King - EVEN MORE SHOCKING THAN NIALL'S RESULT - DAYLIGHT ROBBERY
DOESN'T CUT IT - PLAYED MELISSA LAMB FROM WESSEX IN THE FINAL - LOST 3-1.
Head-shotted her opponent 4 times - knocking her to the floor with one of
them. EVERYONE knew it was wrong!!! - The superstar photographers from FIMP
MEDIA caught the headshots on camera!! Shame the judges missed em!! Sam
King should be British Champion. Both player and coach from Wessex knew -
despite the attitude!
Tom Wiseman - won 1 game with a 7-point gap. Played LONDON TEAM Player in
the final. The lad is a great player and took an early lead - he then was
awarded mysterious points from nowhere including 2 points for a headshot
that never even came close!!! Kath stopped the game in disgust.
Roisin Auld - 7 pointed her first opponent from ELLISONS in 20 seconds but
withdrew from the final against Stella Whitehead from Scorpions - she wasn't
match fit to play Stella after her recent car accident.
KIERAN YOUNG - WOW! What a star Kieran's going to be. Won 2 games to get
to the final. Beat Chris Powell in a very tough, close game in the semis
(WHAT A LOVELY LAD CHRIS POWELL IS!!!!!) - lost the final to Zia Sateri from
TKD Tigers. He tried hard but Zia is tough - taller and much heavier!
SHANICE HARRISON - won first match against Paris Kinlan from H of E but was
beaten comfortably by Danielle Baker of Manchester Aces in the final.
RUEBYN RICHARDS - was amazing. Beat current British Champ Ross Eden from
Central in the prelims - lost a close final to Luke Holman of Sport.

Dave Taylor - fought well - lost to Sam Golding of LTA in the semis
.
Tony Ohara - had a fantastic day - easily beat Chris Cocker from Team in
first round, had a good scrap with Salim Izza of St Katherines in quarters
and was just pipped by Romaine Bailey in the semis. Romaine went on to
defeat Tyrone Robinson in the final to take the gold.
KRUST - beat Lauren Newton in the prelims - lost to Lottie Roberts in the
semis. Well done Krust in your first junior British.
ZHANE HARRISON - beat Sarah Palmer of Kanghan after a very dubiously scored
match. Lost to Nicole McGregor in another poorly scored match on Ring 1.
ANDY REGAN - fought hard but lost his semi-final game by a point!!
Stephen Fletcher - after recovering from a broken foot Stephen had a
fantastic day - won 2 matches comfortably - had to withdraw from semi
against Craig Eden due to injury.
Shannon Elliott - bad draw for Shannon - lost to eventual gold medallist
Jade Jones from Manchester Aces in the semis.
Luke Beecher - 7 pointed his first opponent then lost a very close semi.
Bronze for Luke for the second consecutive year.
NON-MEDALLISTS
Cameron Nind - Fought 1 game but was narrowly defeated, only to have a relasp from a recent head injury. We are pleased to tell you that Cameron is making a steady recovery. All of the coaching staff at Ultimate Taekwondo are ensuring that Cameron is following a safe and controlled rehabilitation to win the British title in 2009. Everyone at Ultimate Taekwondo wishes Cameron and his family all of the best.
